In Progress

Just incase you were wondering if we ever actually work.. here is some album art that is in progress

Real Work

When it comes down to the nitty gritty, Chris knows how to keep his cool and not get overwhelmed.

New Member to the Team

On Tuesday my sister gave birth to my second nephew. Isaac Maxell David Bryan Best made his grand entry into this world at a whopping 10lbs! I finally got a photo today so enjoy! (Yes my sister and brother in law seem to like long names, but at least Isaac has a gauge to how much trouble he’ll be in depending on how many names are said)

Alastair’s weird…

Alastair is apparently the lead singer of Taking Back Sunday. We don’t believe him.

wearemaven.com….Finally!

Today Alastair finally took a break from his normal routine of haircuts, 2 hour lunches, and lallygagging around town with his wife to actually finish up the website. Thanks tree stump you’re a real pro! We’re pretty proud of wearemaven.com actually. The range in our portfolio, and the actual work looks absolutely incredible!! I’m blown away that I get to work with such talent. The site should serve us more than well to generate some early interest in Maven. Shout outs to Shawn, Anna, Jeremy, Hendo, and JonPaul for partnering with us, we’ll do our best to keep food in your mouths, just stick to the Wendy’s dollar menu.

Special thanks to Tim for working on the browser cross compatibility. So Corey you can thank him because I think you’re the only person left who’s using internet explorer 6.

By the way, thank you for finding our blog and clicking on our cool button, bookmark this thing and check back often to be filled in on the latest happening at the Maven offices. Listen friends we take our blog very seriously and can assure you our committment is to update you with only the most vital, responsible, and professional of information. You know classy truth nuggets such as Who won the Office Olympics mattress caber toss yesterday between Bany and Ryan??

And it’s an unfortunate part of life but we expect frequent firings here at Maven. So we’ve added a “How I got fired today” section so that you may share in the hilarity that is the misfortunes of others. I can’t be sure but these seemingly unmerited firings might also have something to do with why we had to add a “How I got my feelings hurt today” section.

So to our family, friends, colleagues, and clients we couldn’t do this without you. Thanks for being here with us, and please don’t be strangers. For my own sanity call or drop in, my only exposure can’t be to these magnificent goofballs I work beside. They never join me in the 4 O’clock dance off and they eat more cheese than I’m comfortable with.

Michael get here soon, we need you in our lives!!

Thanks for reading, now forward out site to 10 friends or you’ll have bad luck for a year.

.Chris

PS
Bany if you’re reading this you can get to selling now.

8 slices of heartache

Today Ryan implied that being paid in the form of pizza was somewhat less than favorable. While I admire the kid’s moxie or pizazz, if you will, I had to make an example of his insubordination and fire him on the spot. His response was “Big deal! I’ll just buy my own pizza for now on.”

I used to think I lived in a world where buying pizza for someone was special and represented the very deepest of love languages. Well today Mr. Kelly you have both destroyed my world view, and broken my heart in 8 slices.

Office Olympics Day 1

Today tensions were high in the Maven offices. Apparently a single day of unpaid work was too much for Ryan to handle. In order to release their unemployment frustrations Bany and R Kelly did what any normal person would do….they challenged one another to a Caber Toss duel. The results were the stuff legends are made of.

Get it right

I spelt Cory’s name wrong, got fired.

Go Figure

So today I was chatting on AIM with some friends. I haven’t gotten around to switching from my personal AIM to my new work AIM which happens to be alastair@wearemaven.com, but it’s not like you’re going to need that address. I received a passive aggressive email today letting me know that company policy only allows us to talk to preapproved contacts on AIM. Considering that Chris sits across the desk from me I asked if he was serious. He awkwardly changed the subject to sports, so I kept talking to my friends but to my own detriment. I was fired later this afternoon for responding to a message on my personal AIM from Chris.

Tree Stump

Chris couldn’t figure out why he felt so drained at the office today. I told him that it’s Thursday. He said that maybe it’s because he’s working across from a tree stump.

Today I got fired.

This morning I showed up to work promptly at 9:00am. At 9:52am Chris sent me a text message that said: “Gotta try to find this phone at another staples. Hold down the fort!”

Which I promptly replied: “Been here since nine.. Wish I could galavant around town but somone’s got to make us money to buy you a phone”

Moments later, Chris said: “I really hope you enjoyed writing that text message cause it just got you fired!”

I told Chris I’d burn this place to the ground, he told me he’d burn my face to the ground. One of us is serious. So long Maven! You suckers.

Maven vs. KK

Here’s the video that our new friends at Big Giant created. It’s the teaser video for the contest we helped Converse out with. All you gotta do is take what you love, put it on a shoe, make a video, and send it in!

We Are Maven…Finally!!!

Well here we are! It’s been a very long and often very difficult journey to bring Maven to life. I can’t remember anything I’ve experienced that has caused me such grief and absolute joy at the same time. So as I sit here in a beautiful half empty office surrounded by great friends, and overflowing with great hope, I find myself a man who knows what it means to be truly blessed. We look forward to updating you on the many exciting things ahead of us, and invite you to share in this journey with us. For without meaningful relationships with you our family, friends, colleagues, and clients we’d lose sight of what Maven has been called to be.
